„Boys can be pretty too“, thinks Irina, the protagonist, a fetish photographer in the book ‚boy parts’ by Eliza Clarke. And that’s true. Boys don’t have to be handsome or strong, they can also be pretty, cute or adorable. Society is pressing boys into a strict form of how to be a men.

Once I met a boy that always wanted to play Barbie with me, but we did that inside and outdoors we were playing football. This memory is really stuck to me - because society takes the opportunity for some boys to enjoy the things they really like, which follows them into adulthood. Men in media are often associated to be dominant and woman to be submissive, especially in fetish photography.

When you type in ‚shibari’ you can see woman being tied up in submission. When you type in ‚shibari men‘ you can see men being tied up and still be dominant. With this project I want to show, that men can also be soft, sensual and beautiful human beings. They can like what ever they want. They can be submissive. They can paint their nails, like flowers and skirts.
